✅ AI AWARENESS DAY - PRELAUNCH @ THE BETTSHOW 26 (LONDON EXCEL)
Last week, the AI Awareness Day Campaign launched at Bett Show, Europe's largest EdTech convention, held at London ExCel.
Mark Martin MBE kicked off the launch with a simple vision for schools: commit to just one activity on the 4th June 2026. Natalie Moore shared Apps for Good's incredible work empowering teachers and students with AI literacy resources reaching 28,000 young people annually, while Jonathan O'Donnell revealed how Harris Federation has formed an AI Student Council and is creating opportunities for teachers to build confidence with AI across all subjects. James Garnett highlighted opportunities for schools to engage proactively on AI policy, governance, and cybersecurity, and Carl Boyd and Carlo Liu from Capital City College shared how they're preparing students for both AI and non-AI careers, pledging to upskill 50 Student Ambassadors to support schools on the day. Justin Spooner from Unthinkable, provided closing remarks to round off an inspiring session.
In a timely boost for the campaign, Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson announced new AI and digital safety standards for education, clear goals for AI in education from digital skills to connectivity, and enhanced support for teacher digital confidence. Her message that AI should augment, not replace, the human skill of teaching is one we couldn't agree with more. A big thank you to the Bett Show team!

✅ CREATE YOUR DISPLAYBOARD FOR AI AWARENESS DAY 2026

Calling all teachers: your display board could spark a nationwide conversation. AI Awareness Day is coming in June, and we're challenging every school to create an AI display board in the build-up not just decoration, but a conversation starter. A place where students can learn the five principles of AI literacy (Safe, Smart, Creative, Responsible, Future), add their own questions and ideas, and explore what AI means for their future.
We've already seen incredible suggestions: schools turning corridors into learning spaces, students designing the boards themselves, and weekly questions getting hundreds of sticky-note responses. The best displays will be featured on our website and socials, so share yours with #AIAwarenessDay2026 and your school will receive a certificate of participation. Your display board could be that something. Who's in? Tag a teacher who'd create something brilliant.
Based in London? We have a team ready to come and help you create your display board.

OUR FIVE CORE PRINCIPLES
SAFE — Understanding risks, safeguarding and personal protection
SMART — Knowing how AI works and what it can do
CREATIVE — Using AI as a tool for imagination and innovation
RESPONSIBLE — Ethical choices, misinformation awareness, fairness
FUTURE — Careers, opportunities, emerging developments
✅ AI AWARENESS DAY RESOURCES
Choose what fits best: 5-minute lesson starters, 15–20 minute tutor time plans, 20-minute assemblies (script provided), or 30–45 minute after-school sessions.
We're working hard to ensure all resources are appropriate for different schools with plenty of time for 4th June 2026. ✅ ANTHROPHIC CEO DARIO AMODEI’s 20,000-WORD ESSAY ON HOW AI ‘WILL TEST’ HUMANITY IS A MUST READ
This week, Dario Amodei, CEO of AI company Anthropic, published a 20,000-word essay titled "The Adolescence of Technology." In it, he warned that AI is about to "test who we are as a species" and that "humanity is about to be handed almost unimaginable power, and it is deeply unclear whether our social, political, and technological systems possess the maturity to wield it."
